ABICS achieves accreditation

Article Type: Newsbriefs From: Structural Survey, Volume 27, Issue 4

Keywords: Asbestos, Accreditation

ABICS – The Asbestos Building Inspectors Certification Scheme has announced that it has been awarded accreditation as a certification body by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). ABICS is the only scheme to certify individual surveyors, as opposed to organisations, and will therefore provide a more economical route for sole traders and small companies. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with the necessary skills and experience to gain personal recognition as a competent asbestos surveyor. Whether they work within an organisation or independently, with this ABICS certification, individual surveyors or building inspectors can demonstrate to duty-holders that they, personally, are competent to survey buildings for asbestos, no matter how large or complex that building may be, and for all types of asbestos survey.
