In the space of a week, contract electronics manufacturer Karavale Enterprises has opened new plants in Ennis, Ireland, and Cwmbran, Wales, which will create around 600 new jobs. The plant in Ennis was officially opened on 30 September by Mary Harney, An Tanaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, and the Cwmbran plant was opened on 7 October by Ron Davies, the Secretary of State for Wales.
The 26,000sq.ft plant in Ennis incorporates the business of Neltronic Manufacturing, which was acquired by Karavale last month, while the 45,000sq.ft plant in Cwmbran is adjacent to the company's 25,000sq.ft facility opened as recently as 1997.
Over £16 million is being invested by Karavale in the new plants, which are equipped with the latest ultra high-speed PCB assembly machines. The investment in Ireland is supported by Shannon Development and in Wales by regional selective assistance from the Welsh Office.
