GR TestStation enhancements expand system flexibility and capability

Keywords GenRad, Testing

GenRad, Inc. have announced enhancements to its newest test platform, the GR TestStation in-circuit test solution. Initially introduced at NEPCON West 99 with the Ultra 121 all-real pin system, the GR TestStation, which evolved from GenRad's proven GR228X technology, now supports GR228X pin cards, offering the greatest flexibility in pin-count expansion and pin electronics. The system can be configured from 256 to 7,680 pins on the factory floor, allowing electronics manufacturers to meet today's test requirements with minimal investment and without the risk of equipment obsolescence.

The GR TestStation can be populated with any of the current GR228X pin cards or with GenRad's Ultra 121 all-real pin card. Existing GR228X fixtures and programs are fully compatible. As technology and production requirements change, the tester can be re-configured by adding modules to increase node count, up to 7,680 pins or to populate the system with the Ultra 121 pin card. For complex combinational testing, instruments such as GenRad's Analog Functional Test Module, Multi-Protocol Instrument, Vehicle Control Interface and Frequency Time Instrument can also be added.

When populated with GenRad's Ultra 121 pin card option, the GR TestStation can accept any other ATE vendor's fixtures and programs. The Ultra 121 pin card simultaneously provides test resources for every node of a board, accelerating test set development. The Ultra 121 increases the accuracy of the measurement resolution, making it possible to test low- and mixed-voltage technologies more precisely.
