Welcome to the 22nd volume of Women in Management Review. This year we aim to maintain the high quality and diversification of papers that we have published in previous years. This will be achieved from open calls for papers and two special editions presenting the best leading edge papers from the European Academy of Management and the British Academy of Management. In addition, we are delighted to start this new volume with an expert piece from one of the leading names in women and management, Professor Virginia Schein.

Virginia was one of the first academics to show that gender stereotyping was a major barrier to women's entry into management and that it fostered bias against women in terms of managerial selection and promotion (Schein, 1973, 1975). It was from this work that she first proposed the now infamous phrase “think manager = think male”. Virginia has continued to undertake research in this area around the globe, not only influencing the progression of the area but also inspiring academics and practitioners alike to identify and challenge the biases still inherent in the workplace. We are, therefore, delighted to be able to publish her presidential address given at the 26th International Congress of Applied Psychology, Athens, Greece.

I hope that you enjoy the journal and we welcome your comments and submissions.
