The (US) Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Inc. has established the Industry Standards and Technology Organisation. The new organisation is legally independent and not-for-profit and is designed to complement the existing IEEE Standards Association. The organisation will provide the infrastructure so that consortia programmes and related technology development activities can be organised.
