remotemusic.com announces the launch of its digital download operation, utilising Microsoft Windows Media Technologies 4.0. The company has set up one of the world's first truly dedicated online music Web sites, producing and procuring original music from internationally acclaimed artists and new talent, together with other music rights acquisitions, for sale online. remotemusic.com, with Windows Media Player, will enable users to download music tracks to their computers, and eventually hi-fis, portable players and broadband mobile phones. Currently, more than one copy of the Windows Media Player is downloaded every second, growing to more than 40 million current users. Over 600 radio stations worldwide broadcast using Windows Media.
