E-benchmark

Baan, the global provider of enterprise business software, showed the results of performance benchmark tests on an e-commerce application. In the test, Baan achieved scalability to 2,000 concurrent users of E-Configuration, a key-component of the company's E-Enterprise and Front Office product suites. The benchmark was performed on the Microsoft Windows NT platform, using four Compaq ProLiant 6500 and 7000/XEON Systems. E-Configuration is a sell-side commerce solution that enables companies to leverage a sophisticated product configuration engine to support complex transactions via Web-store fronts. With E-Configuration, a company can support interactive selection of variants and accurately match exact customer needs with product and service offerings. The benchmark was designed to measure the scalability and speed of the E-Configuration software to simulate thousands of concurrent users attempting to perform complex configurations simultaneously through the Web. On the Windows NT and Compaq platforms, the Baan E-Configuration solution achieved a linear scalability of 2,000 concurrent users, which represents a significant increase in order processing and revenue generation for a typical company selling complex products or services via the Web.
