Canon has announced plans to team its colour and black-and-white digital multifunction solutions with the high-volume workflow management capabilities of Advanced Hi-Tech Corporation (AHT) controllers. This collaboration underscores Canon's intention to capture a dominant share of the lucrative, high-volume "print-on-demand" market, which has been experiencing double-digit growth in excess of 30 per cent a year. The AHT Document Server for Canon is due about now (second quarter of 2000). By providing significant distributed management capabilities for Canon's imageRUNNER 600 and CLC 1000, the AHT Document Server for Canon enables "print-on-demand" organisations to maintain centralised control of print and copy jobs assigned to multiple, geographically-dispersed devices. As a result, organisations can more easily and equitably balance their workload among devices installed in one or more locations, produce materials closer to the point of demand without sacrificing overall control of the process, and take full advantage of Canon colour, network connectivity and automated document finishing capabilities.
