Micrografx has released iGrafx Designer Author's edition, a technical authoring solution that allows users quickly and efficiently to create technical documentation containing "intelligent graphics". The product combines the ease of use of iGrafx Designer with the high-end capabilities of the company's ActiveCGM Author solution. The result is a comprehensive tool that enables technical writers to open, edit, touch-up, mark-up and publish intelligent graphics to be used in technical documentation. There are currently about ten technical authors to one graphic illustrator. iGrafx Designer AE eliminates the bottlenecks that this ratio creates. Illustrators can concentrate on the smaller number of high-end graphics leaving the technical authors to work on routine graphics projects. This solution offers real versatility, with the ability to publish documents on an Intranet, Internet, or viae-mail with an interactive Java-based CGM viewer. It can also open and save more than 50 common CAD and graphics file types.
