Zandiant Technologies has been selected to supply telematics systems for eMotion Mobility's innovative car-sharing program. Zandiant's advanced telematics systems will be incorporated into eMotion's zero-emission electric vehicles based on the MCC Smart City-Coupe. Zandiant's telematics system includes global positioning system (GPS) technology, along with digital cellular and wireless local area network (WLAN) communications. eMotion Mobility is currently developing a personal mobility system in Atlanta, Georgia, using smooth, sleek electric cars available on a per-trip basis. Taking a page from the innovative European concept of car-sharing, users will be able to access a car, whenever they need it, offering the freedom associated with owning a car without the cost and hassle of ownership. eMotion's car-sharing system will provide instant access to a network of cars throughout the city, 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week. The company's fleet of zero-emission electric vehicles and reserved parking will be convenient to business centres, universities, shopping malls, transit stations, residential communities, popular public areas and other key locations. eMotion Mobility plans to expand the concept to California, Massachusetts, Vermont, New York and other major cities in the future and eventually build as many as 5,000 cars a year, which would make it by far the largest electric vehicle business in the USA.
